"Tough, no-nonsense punk that includes a bit of a lot of things: stompy Oi!-influenced tempos, lyrics pronounced with anarcho-punk conviction, screamin’ psych-metal guitar riffs, fast circle-pit-worthy interludes, and even some freaky sound effects. This record is excellently punk while emphatically defying subgenres and labels. Refreshingly free and original, it shares the sensibility of early punk trailblazers. The closest comparison I can make is that it sounds like a less-panicky and more psychedelic version of DIRT, with higher production value. Debut LP from Cleveland, OH's STREET GURGLER. Combining 70's hard rock riffs with psychedelic electronics and a healthy dose of good ol Cleveland style punk, Street Gurgler have established themselves as a group that can't, won't, and shouldn't be ignored. Irreverent lyrics are tossed out with an inflection reminiscent of The Waitresses' Patty Donahue while the band chugs, swirls, and zooms though riffs influenced by 70's Hawkwind and Black Sabbath. Freaks and weirdos unite in Gross!!
